Pretty Plastic Partner of the Circular Building Experience
Pretty Plastic, producer of circular building materials, enters a cooperation with the Bouwlab R&Do in Haarlem of 3D Makers Zone. BouwLab R&Do is a Smart Industry Fieldlab in the field of technology and sustainability for the building industry, with many workshops and projects on digitalisation and robotisation for the building sector. The Circular Building Experience, which is currently under construction, will serve as a laboratory for innovation in the construction industry.
The Circular Building Lab consists of a basic structure of an existing building - a former pavilion - which is being rebuilt on the site next to BouwLab R&Do in Haarlem, The Netherlands. New and existing products and materials will be used in the building if they meet the strict criteria of circularity and disassembly. The circular façade tiles as designed by Pretty Plastic, fit seamlessly with these starting points of the Circular Construction Experience: the exceptionally designed tiles consist of 100% upcycled PVC. All wall coverings in the building will be measured continuously by sensors. This data is used to compare the materials with respect to properties such as drainage, heat retention, etc. These data are also important for Pretty Plastic.
As a partner, Pretty Plastic is going to apply these tiles in various colour combinations to one of the outer walls of the Bulding Lab. In addition, the partnership offers the possibility of testing the new designs Pretty Plastic is developing in combination with the expertise of the Bouwlab R&Do.
Pretty Plastic's mission is to contribute to the circular economy with the design and production of beautiful and safe building materials from existing building waste in order to structurally reduce the building waste mountain. This mission seamlessly connects to the starting point of the Circular Bouwlab Experience as a practical example to convince clients to make a positive contribution to people, society, and the environment.
