What fire classification do Pretty Plastic tiles have?

All three current Pretty Plastic tiles, First One, Second High and Basic Third, are classified B-s3,d0 for reaction to fire under EN 13501-1:2018, within the field of application described in each classification report. First One also has a roof classification of BROOF(t4) under EN 13501-5, according to the latest product sheet.

All three facade classifications were tested on a non-combustible substrate (class A1/A2) with a ventilated air gap. The exact build-up is in each classification report.

What does B-s3,d0 mean?

  • B: the main reaction-to-fire class under EN 13501-1 (on a scale from A1, non-combustible, to F).
  • s3: the smoke-production sub-class; smoke production does not meet the s1 or s2 criteria.
  • d0: no flaming droplets or particles within the test criteria.

Can Pretty Plastic be used on any facade?

Not on the basis of the product class alone. Whether a facade or roof system is suitable depends on building height, substrate, substructure, insulation, cavity, detailing and national building regulations. The classification report describes the tested build-up and its field of application. Always relate the product class to the relevant report and to the actual build-up of your project.

What was tested?

All three tiles were tested the same way: as facade cladding on a non-combustible substrate, with a ventilated air gap and mechanical fixing. The difference is the substructure. First One and Basic Third were tested on timber (pine) battens, Second High on aluminium omega profiles. Each classification applies to the substructure the tile was tested on.
