# Pretty Plastic > Pretty Plastic makes facade and roof cladding tiles from 100% recycled PVC > building waste. Founded by the Dutch architects behind the People's Pavilion > (Dutch Design Week 2017), its tiles are used on 120+ buildings across Europe > and beyond — schools, universities, offices, sports and cultural buildings, > and homes. First building material in its product group made from 100% > recycled PVC listed in the Dutch Nationale Milieudatabase (Categorie 1). ## Company Pretty Plastic B.V. is a Dutch building products manufacturer. The company grew out of the People's Pavilion, designed for Dutch Design Week 2017 by architecture studios bureau SLA (Peter van Assche) and Overtreders W (Reinder Bakker and Hester van Dijk) — a building constructed entirely from borrowed and recycled materials, clad in tiles made from recycled household plastic. Today the portfolio counts more than 120 realised projects. - Website: https://www.prettyplastic.nl - Contact: https://www.prettyplastic.nl/contact - About & team: https://www.prettyplastic.nl/about-us - Production takes place in the Netherlands. ## Material - Tiles are made from 100% recycled (post-consumer) PVC building waste: window frames, rain gutters, downpipes and similar construction offcuts. - The material is upcycled without adding virgin plastic and can be recycled again at end of life. - Properties: lightweight, weather-resistant, low-maintenance, suitable for ventilated facade systems and roofs; colours are inherent to the sorted waste streams, giving each tile a unique surface pattern. - Because the tiles maximise recycled content, colour is never uniform — this variation is a design feature, not a defect. ## Products All three models come in 15 colours: Grey, Green, Ochre, Terracotta and Blue, each in Light, Medium and Dark. Listed in the Nationale Milieudatabase as Categorie 1 (brand-specific, verified environmental data). Used on both cladding and roofing (e.g. Hortus Ludi, private residences in Belgium and the UK). - **Second High** — square tile developed for high-rise: suitable for buildings up to 45 metres. The 45-metre application limit applies to the Second High specifically, not to the whole product family. Launched at Dutch Design Week 2022. Used on e.g. IKC De Tamboerijn and KlaversJansen Breda. - **Basic Third** — large-format tile, 569 × 329 mm, thickness 30 mm, developed for fast installation on large surfaces and prefab construction. Debut project: Plus Ultra III on Wageningen University campus. ## Fire safety - Pretty Plastic tiles are fire-classified under EN 13501-1:2018 with classification B-s3,d0 — achieved without additional substrates. Classification reports and per-product fire documentation are available in the information kit and on request. - Higher facade fire classes (A2 route) are achievable at the level of the full facade build-up; consult Pretty Plastic for project-specific advice. ## Sustainability & certification - Nationale Milieudatabase (NMD): First One listed as Categorie 1 — the first building material in its product group made from 100% recycled PVC. - EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) available. - Global Warming Potential: approx. 40 kg CO2e per m² for the First One — a consequence of the deliberate choice to recycle as much PVC as possible rather than optimise for the lowest footprint number. - Relevant for the Dutch MPG (MilieuPrestatie Gebouwen): brand-specific Categorie 1 data counts more favourably in MPG calculations than generic data.
